What is Web 2.0 ? Meaning of Web 2.0 and What exactly it is IMO ?

I know this article is almost 2 years late(actually more than that) but hey I think there will still be few who might still be looking for an answer of it or might be wondering why exactly is so much buzz about this term (actually people have already predicted its death now and that it was failure). Anyway this is not about those people. I am writing this to tell what "I" think about Web 2.0 and what exactly is Web 2.0.

First of all, a little hisory of web 1.0. It occured when meta tags were introduced in late 90's to define the webpages. Tags like keywords,description and author were introduced to help bots and crawlers know what the page is about. Anyway later on this feature was abused brutally by spammers and nowdays search engines don't care at all about keyword tags and very little about others. This whole idea of web 1.0 was to make the web a little more organized and to make it identifiable.

Now From the point where Web 1.0 ends, I think web 2.0 picks up. It is very hard to define web 2.0 adn I think there is anyone who can exactly define it in a single line. I think web 2.0 is about "Enhanced User Experience using Interaction". There are social networking sites providing a channel for people to communicate, there is ajax making the web pages to look more appealing and efficient adn there is tagging which is organizing the web.

But obviously there is alot offered by web 2.0. I can see a whole industry, calling themselve enterprise 2.0 getting evolved from web 2.0. And I have to say, people are making some good fortune from it! The scenario is very much like in 99-2000 with tech boom. Sites getting sold for multi million dollars and portals makings loads of cash in just few months of there release.

The thing is, the web is still pretty much the same but the approach towards people have changed. Suddently the user experience has taken sentral stage and products and sites have started getting launcehed with user and his choices in mind. I had always think that web is only about one of the 3 things, Information, Entertainment or Service. Most of these web 2.0 sites(including social media) falls into second category.

Now the best thing of this category is that with just an idea and very small input financially you can go really far. This is one of the most exciting thing abotu web 2.0. I can write on and fill pages after pages on web 2.0 but I feels this is pretty much what I wanted to say. I am writing an article on web 3.0 (since this article was 2 years old, so let me make up for it by being one of the first people to write web 3.0) Just give me few hours and let me finish the web 3.0 article...
