phpBay-Lite Wordpress Plugin - Now Sell eBay Items from your wordpress blog and Make Money

phpBay Lite for Wordpress is another plugin(there is also Pro version with many more features) that not a lot of people are familiar with. Basically, it allows you to easily implement the eBay affiliate program on your blog.

If you’re unfamiliar with the program, it allows you to earn 50% to 75% commission on eBay revenue (seller fees), and also allows you to earn $25.00 to $35.00 commission per new active user (a new account that signs up and then makes a purchase) referral. Depending on the target audience of your blog, it can amount to an extremely lucrative amount.

Basically, when a user leaves your site from an eBay link, there is a cookie stored on your computer. When that user purchases anything on eBay (not just the auction you link to) within 60 days, than you receive credit as described above. The more revenue you generate, the more eBay raises the percentage you receive.

All you need is an account with Commission Junction and this plugin, and you’re good to go. You may have heard of a program called auction Ads (though right now it is gutter) that is similar in how you can easily add the eBay affiliate links to your website. If find a plugin like phpBay gives you much greater control over the process however, and allows you to keep all your earnings. Here is what typical admin panel looks like (you just have to enter your Commission Junction website PID, that's it)

Once you upload the plugin and set the options such as you Commission Junction ID, it’s as simple as adding a line of code like

[ phpbay ]bmw wheel, 5[ /phpbay ]

(Remove the space before and after "["and "]" as since I am also using this plugin, wordpress is parsing the code and showing feed items instead of the code!)

This will create a block like this - Displaying related items from eBay:

That’s really all there is to it. The first value is the keyword or keyword phrase and the second value is the number of listings (from 1 to 100) that will be displayed.

The free version works perfectly, but there is a paid version ($39.00) as well that offers several additional features. These include setting minimum or maximum bids to display, choosing to display only specific categories, display specific sellers, different countries, and search by Postal Code for local only results.

Also, some people think that Google and other search engines don’t place as much emphasis on pages that include a lot of affiliate links such as those linking to eBay. Therefore the plugin provides the ability to mask outgoing links so they can’t be detected. The actual effect of this may be debatable, but it’s good to know such a feature is included just in case.

So if you’re looking for a new way to monetize your blog, the phpBay plugins (both free and paid) are definitely worth checking out. It can add additional revenue to it though do note that ebay pays 50% of there earnings to you but they only charge or 2% of the price of the product, so if you sell a product for $20, you will earning something in the range of $0.1 to $0.2.
