1_auto-social-poster-box.jpgAuto Social Poster is by far, one of the best Wordpress plugins I have ever used. There’s no other plugin I’ve found that can even remotely compare to the benefits that it provides. Bottom line is that if there was only one add-on I could even install on my blogs, this would be it.

However, it’s a plugin that never seems to get much publicity or attention. I think this is due to the fact that it’s a paid product and one which isn’t exactly cheap either – it runs $127.00. With what the plugin does however, it’s definitely worth the price. I also think I know why no one ever discusses it.

Because of the price, only people who are really serious about blogging as, or as part of, a business are using it. Those same people are those who are most resistant to share their secrets. It’s not like Akismet, where just about any blog under the sun can benefit from its features. With Auto Social Poster, the end result is more suited to a serious blogging effort.

So, what does it actually do ?
Well, at the end of the day it does four things; create more back links to your site, drive more traffic to your site, improve search engine rankings, and lastly, save you time.

No doubt that sounds like a bold statement. What it does, is accomplish this by submitting all of your individual posts to social bookmarking sites. Each time a new post is made, it automatically submits your post to the sites you’ve selected, with the tags you specify. If you’ve ever gone through the trouble of manually submitting to these types of sites, then you definitely know how much time it can save.

Essentially, by submitting your posts to these social bookmarking sites, you’re creating additional back links to your site, which helps increase your search engine rankings, which hopefully results in more traffic to your site.

It currently submits to fourteen different sites, including Del.icio.us, Blinklist, Blogmarks, Furl, Magnolia, Reddit, Myweb, Shadows, Simpy, Scuttle and Spurl. You need to have your accounts with each of these services initially, which will only take an hour or so to set up. You then plug your password and username into the options and you’re set. I’m having trouble with submissions to two of the sites however, but these are smaller sites and I don’t think I’ve updated to the newest version.

To stop your submission from potentially looking “spammy”, it also offers several randomization features as well. First off, it can randomly choose a set number of sites to submit to. This is a excellent feature if your blog in getting multiple posts per day, so specific bookmarking services don’t get hammered with your requests. Secondly, it can either pull the tags that are used from your Technorati label for the post, or it can randomly select a set number of tags from a list you have previously set.

The plugin is great because once it’s set up, you never have to worry about it again. It works in the background, and provides tangible results. I’ve used it on sites which are brand new, and get very infrequently updated to amazing results. I’ve find these sites get indexed much quicker, and start ranking for all sorts of keyphrases. If you’re serious about your blogging, then you should definitely check it out.
