In one of my previous articles I had talked about What is web 2.0 and where exactly are we heading, Now few weeks back, I came to know about Eric Schimid's definition of web 2.0 and web 3.0. You can get the video of what he said about web 3.0 here on youtube.

Now since I was one of the last people to write on web 2.0 on the world so I thought to do some catching up and be one of the first few to write on web 3.0 :)

I think though Eric just said web 2.0 is about ajax(he must have wanted to add a lot to it), I feels web 2.0 "was" about enhanced user experience. Suddenly with so many web 2.0 powered websites popping up, we can easily see how the old static pages and navigation system has become part of history. People wanted something better and they got it.

I feels web 3.0 is going to be about services and extreme connectivity. I think facebook apps is the way to make roads for web 3.0. Facebook has opened its gates for anyone to build there application s and attach to them. I would love to see google, yahoo, microsoft, amazon and others doing the same thing. I feels web 3.0 is also going to be about Community information models like wikipedia. We also need to involve people to pass information via a channel better than emails.

I think there is a great opportunity to replace emails and come up with a unique method of faster communications. Of course all big websites provides sending message feature to your friends but if they can built this feature and make it more advanced, there is tremendous money in it. And talking about money, well obviously there will be e-commerce too as a part of web 3.0. I would love to see established sites like ebay and amazon getting challenged by small players. For doing this, they need to come up with better business model than "We sell cheaper than them" or "We ship in one day". There is a tremendous scope of uniqueness and innovation and people who can cash on it are the once who are going to be the owners of next amazon or ebay.

I still have few more points but now, not able to remember them, as I will remember them, I will keep updating this post. You are of course welcome to put your views on web 3.0 and how it should be or how it should look like.
