When the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. (FDIC) seized the IndyMac Bank on July 11, the blogosphere responded. The response however, was not what the FDIC wanted to hear.
The IndyMac Bank was one of the largest bank failures since the 1980's. The blogosphere began to speculate other bank failures from some of California's largest banks.

A new survey shows that nearly a quarter of all companies have banned social networking sites. A Chicago consulting firm polled 200 HR professionals at an industry convention and found that these companies believe social networks hinder productivity.
Most companies have a formal policy with guidelines on their employee’s use of sites like Facebook and MySpace; however, 22 percent completely block them from the workplace.

Many people lined up this morning for the launch of Apple's new iPhone. This new model updates the iPhone of last year by speeding up the Internet access and adding a navigation chip.
The new and improved iPhone is only $199 as opposed to the starting price last year of $599.

A federal judge ruled that video-sharing site YouTube, which is owned by Google, has to give Viacom all its user data. Last year, Viacom sued Google claiming that YouTube infringed upon its copyrights by allowing users to post clips from "South Park" and "The Daily Show."
YouTube countered the argument by saying that according to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998 (DMCA), it doesn't have to take down its clips until Viacom files a complaint about each one.
