My first triumph with Open Source was during my first year of engineering when I wanted to install linux and someone gave me Mandrake CD's. I preferred mandrake over red hat at that time because I was able to play all my songs in it. Since than I have come a long way in using open source softwares and operating systems though I am just still a little better than a naive ubuntu user, I share the joy and of fun of using it will millions others :) Just in case if you were living in cave for the past 20 years, and have never heard of Open Source Movement or (most likely) not bothered about it, here are my little thoughts on it and why should you at least make an attempt to Make the switch to Open Source.

A person may decide to find open source alternatives for software as commercial software becomes more expensive and as the license agreements for software get more ridiculous. Making the switch to open source can be done successfully. There are many high quality open source programs available that compare to or even outdo the counterparts.

The GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is an open source graphics software available for a variety of platforms including Windows, Linux, and Mac OS. Unlike many closed source programs such as Photoshop and Pant Shop Pro, the GIMP is completely free of charge, and anyone wanting to can contribute to the development. GIMP is a perfect tool for people like me who are not power users in graphics and feels photoshop is overkill of their requirements and are too costly.

Despite its low price tag, the GIMP is a powerful tool featuring many features needed for the graphics artist, and can be used for drawings and photographs and more. For using GIMP on windows you have to download GTK libraries as well but it is very simple as they come in Single Click installation file. Download your GIMP right Now!

I am writing this article day by day basis with lots of tips on promoting your blog. I will advice you to read all 30 days once to get good idea of how to promote your blog. I have already covered most of the ways of how to find a good blog name, how to find a niche and how to write a good effective article with good title, so this post will only focus on getting traffic and promoting your blog. So let's start than.

Day 1 - Post your first post. Give a litle real info about yourself and be direct to the reading audience. Use first person language rather than third person as article written as third person gets very dull and becomes wiki like article. Now from the day 1 itself we are going to start promoting our blog. Install Stumbleupon plugin [If you have never heard about it than it is a good time to look at Stumbleupon and its wiki site for more info]. Register there and submit it. If its a technology related stuff than also submit it to digg and netscape. This is also a good time to register to atleast del.icio.us and reddit as I have seen these are the only two good social networking site which can give you genuine traffic. Register to them and submit the link.

Though the article was good but it had lot's of eye candy and a newbie may get impressed with it, any webmaster who has worked on building websites targeting adsense will easily tell you that this article do not cover the important things and has lost its relevance now. Directory submissions are useless and article submission aren't that effective if your just planning to make money using google adsense.

So here is MY UP to DATE article on How to make $0 to $5 in just 30 days using Google Adsense.
